“When I finally understood and began to be proud of my heritage”

My last trip to the Philippines gave me an understanding and appreciation of my own culture which I neglected until now. Being there and seeing where my family came from filled me with pride. It showed me my responsibility to keep that culture alive through learning the language, making the food, and sharing it with others around me.
